Dentigerous Cyst

In this case a dentigerous cyst has formed around an unerupted supernumerary tooth (an extra 405) in a 7 year old dog. This has caused bone loss around the root of 405, the mesial root of 406 and also a significant amount around the distal surface of 404. All these teeth were therefore extracted. The lining of the cyst was removed by careful dissection, curettage of the socket wall, then flushing with saline. The site was sutured closed with simple interrupted 4/0 monoq.

The circular cysts can be seen over the root of 404

A cyst has formed around the unerupted crown of the supernumerary 405

There is a large amount of bone loss over the root of 404 which had to be extracted

Four teeth (404, 405, 405 supernumerary and 406) were extracted and the site was sutured closed.
