Referral for extended mouth pain in a dog following extraction

This dog developed necrotic bone at the site of a previous upper molar (209) following extraction. The dog would improve when on anitbiotics then relapse with an exceedingly sore mouth a few weeks after stopping them. There was increased plaque, tartar and gingivitis around the mandibular premolar and molar teeth on the same side. Grossly the necrotic bone with debris attached can be seen distal to 208. On the xray necrotic bone can be seen. A large sequestrum was removed by raising a gingival flap and burring away alveolar bone. The section of tooth/bone was elevated. The area was flushed to remove debris and only healthy tissue remained. The site was sutured.
